>Movement Skills for Regulation - Presentation at IGNITE THE PLAY: School Aged Care Conference (January 2020)

Learn how to use dance and movement to connect children to their social and emotional needs. In session 1, we will explore how to use dance/movement therapy work to engage, energize, and find focus. In session 2, we dive into movements that promote calming, self-regulating, and inner-awareness. These two diverse approaches are essential in supporting children to find their own sense of body awareness, and knowing what might benefit them in any given scenario. Movement work empowers children to have agency over their body-mind connection, and feel more capable self-regulating on a daily basis. We all know movement is essential to our wellbeing - come experience dance and movement that enhances connection to self and others.

Outcomes and Goals:

-To provide tools for front line workers to use with a group of children to help organize and re-focus a group

-For front line workers to experience, get a physical sense in their own bodies, of what kind of impact dance/movement can have on an individual

-To offer simple exercises and activities that can be replicated in a school age setting.
